Our Buddies will travel the world through food in 4 weeks. This session is jam packed with food, fun and sophisticated cooking techniques taught by a professional chef and educator. Taste Buds stands on the tenets of cultural awareness and sensitivity. At Taste Buds, we love learning about countries other than our own, and our goal is to share that love of learning with our students. We do extensive research before sharing facts about different countries, and because we are based in the Washington, DC area, our access to more than 175 embassies helps us with that research. This class is taught by our lead instructors, Chef Shavown and Miss Brittany. Chef Shavown is a professional chef and Miss Brittany is a former classroom teacher with over 13 years of experience in a variety of educational settings. This mother-daughter duo once lived in Italy and traveled throughout Europe. They also have family members that currently live in South Africa, and a host of friends from countries all over the world.
No homework required
1 file available upon enrollmentA list of needed supplies and ingredients for each week will be provided upon enrollment. We do our best to use ingredients that can be found in your local grocery store. We are also happy to provide you with substitution ideas if something can't be found, or if a student has dietary concerns.
We will provide our buddies with verbal feedback as we go. Also, the best form of assessment is the confidence that they develop in the kitchen.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will be using kitchen tools, which will include the use of a knife for some recipes. A Parent or guardian will want to be present to supervise student use of these tools.
