US Grade 3 - 5
Do you want to learn more about many of the national parks that are in the United States? I have been to many of these listed national parks and can't wait to teach you all about them! Each week we will explore a different national park. Since this class meets in an ongoing format, each week's content stands on its own and does not require previous knowledge or attendance. You are welcome to join this class at any time :)! Classes will be taught through discussion and a PowerPoint. I have extensively researched each of these parks. Many of the pictures being shared with learners are my own, as well as from the National Park Service. I have visited many of these parks which help to enhance the discussion and knowledge of each of these parks. We will discuss the geology, geography, wildlife, history and fun facts about each of these listed parks, as well as one national monument. Students will be given ample time to ask questions and express their thoughts throughout the lesson. At the end of each lesson learners will be given a few fun "check for understanding" questions to help them with retaining information about what was taught during the lesson. Learners will also be given the opportunity to share what they learned or what they would like to explore at the national park discussed. Students only need an interest in nature, wildlife and/or history to enjoy this class. The national parks/national monument that will be taught in this class are: Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Smoky Mountains, Mesa Verde, Mammoth Cave, Petrified Forest, Crater Lake, White Sands, Dry Tortugas, Death Valley, Mount St. Helens, Joshua Tree, Glacier, Great Sand Dunes, Sequoia and Denali + others. *Please look below for the exact dates of when each national park, or national monument, will be taught. * Class time may be adjusted for classes with a smaller number of students. * This class may sometimes go up to 5 min. over the scheduled time depending upon learner discussion and questions. * Sibling discount available upon request. Teacher expertise and credentials
Nevada Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I have a BA in elementary education with a minor in history. I love teaching all subjects but most of all, I love teaching others about the world around them. I have a great love for history, nature and the great outdoors. I have been blessed throughout my life to have spent a lot of time traveling across the United States. During this time, I have been able to explore many of our country's beautiful National Parks. My parents were both educators. My dad was also a park ranger for many years before becoming a classroom teacher. My parents both instilled in me at a young age the love for learning, teaching and appreciating nature. I love sharing these same principles with others!
