Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Let’s take a tour around the culturally and historically rich Mediterranean! Visiting Italy, Greece, and Turkey where we’ll explore the locations that set the foundation for much of Western Civilization!

In this three lesson exploration, students will learn introductory phrases in different languages (hello, thank you, your welcome, and more), receive take-home recipes for popular dishes, engage in mini-history and culture lessons, participate in class discussion, and explore natural and man-made wonders. Additionally, students will acquire real world travel skills through asking questions on a tour, creating an "Instagram post," and leaving a "Tripadvisor Review."

Journey Around the Mediterranean Itinerary:
Destination #1: Italy
→ We begin our tour in the capital city of Rome. Here we’ll visit the Colosseum and the Pantheon while learning about ancient Rome. Next we’ll head to the Sistine Chapel and end our Roman adventure with a wish at the Trevi Fountain.
→ Afterwards, we'll stop off in Pisa to see The Leaning Tower before making our way to Cinque Terre for some coastline hiking.
→ Next we’re heading to Venice where we’ll take a gondola ride and visit St. Mark’s Basilica.
→ The last stop on tour is Milan. In the global fashion hub we’ll visit Piazza del Duomo and check out the Leonardo da Vinci Museum.

Destination #2: Greece
→ The tour commences in Athens where we’ll visit the Acropolis and Parthenon and learn about Ancient Greece. Next we’ll visit The Temple of Olympian Zeus while diving into some mythology.
→ Next, we’re headed to Mykonos where we’ll sail to Delos Island and take a guided tour.
→ From Mykonos we head to Santorini where we’ll take a volcano tour and visit Ancient Thira.
→ The last stop on tour is Rhodes. Here we’ll explore the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Colossus of Rhodes.

Destination #3: Turkey
→ We begin our tour in Ephesus where Roman, Greek, and Turkish culture collide. Here we’ll visit the Temple of Artemis, walk down the Street of Curetes, and head to the iconic Library of Celsus.
→ Next we’re off to Istanbul. We’ll explore the beautiful architecture of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia followed by shopping at the Grand Bazaar.
→ We end our tour in Cappadocia where we’ll go hiking in Love Valley and Monks Valley. We’ll end our tour visiting the open air museums and taking a hot air balloon ride over the beautiful landscape.
