Description
Class Experience
Students will learn how to find inner calm in their daily lives, as well as during more trying times.
I am a certified meditation instructor, and teach at the University of California, Irvine. I have worked there for three years, and guide college-level students through the same exercises and activities we will engage in, throughout this course. At UC Irvine, I am also the director of the summer yoga program for kids, where I lead courses exactly like this (on stress-management), for kids aged 8-16. In all of my work beyond Outschool, I handle stress-management classes with empathy, care, and competence. Class are conducted with clear boundaries, and are designed to manage surface-level everyday stress.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
This course will include some gentle yoga postures. I am required by Outschool to add a precautionary note: Yoga, like any movement-based activity, should be done with caution, and with parental supervision if you feel that it's needed. Students should have enough space to be able to extend their arms fully to the sides in all directions, without knocking anything over. Students will probably be most comfortable in bare feet, but...so long as they are not wearing socks on a slippery floor, their attire is totally up to them. Students may wish to have a yoga mat, but will not be at greater risk without one...they will just be more comfortable with one (easier on the knees). *This class will include SELF exploration of emotions (students will not be asked or required to share negative emotions with the class).
