Train Like an Athlete: Physical Education for All Fitness Levels

Class Experience

Come have fun, break a sweat, and learn about fitness! 

In this ongoing physical education and fitness class, students will be introduced to the language and concepts used in the fitness industry while completing group workouts designed to improve their fitness level and unleash their inner athlete! 

Each class will begin by reviewing the day’s exercises. We will watch quick demonstration videos for each exercise and I will explain specific cues and “points of performance” for the movements. As well, I will use this start of class time to mention any subject-specific terms related to the workout so that students will be able to both “walk the walk” and “talk the talk.” 

Next, we will perform a dynamic warm up before beginning our workout. Throughout the workout, I will provide modifications for each movement so that students can increase or decrease the difficulty of the move based on their current fitness level. After completing our workout, we will perform a static cool down designed to improve flexibility and decrease post-exercise muscle soreness. 

To keep students active and engaged, each class period will feature a unique workout designed to improve students’ overall fitness levels in one or more of the following areas: cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility. Music will be played throughout all workouts and I am always open to students sending in their requests prior to class time.

As a physical education teacher and American Council on Exercise certified personal trainer, I love helping my students and clients unleash the athlete that is inside every one of them. I love witnessing the pride-filled moments where students who have never considered themselves athletic achieve a fitness goal or when long-time athletes push themselves to levels that they had never previously achieved. I love sharing my enthusiasm for fitness and helping students develop habits that will positively impact their lives all the way through adulthood. This work is so much more than just my job, it is my true passion. I look forward to sharing that passion with you.

**Please Note: Some exercises in class call for the use of dumbbell weights. Students should come to class with one set of light-weight dumbbells (approximately 5-8 pounds) and an optional set of heavier-weight dumbbells (approximately 10-15 pounds). Please reach out to me if you would like help selecting the right weight for your child.

Parental Guidance
Please note: This is a movement-based class. Students should make sure to wear sneakers, have adequate space to perform movements, and bring a water bottle if desired. If students require items such as inhalers or braces for exercising, these should be present as well. In addition, please reach out to me prior to class if your child has any injury or medical circumstances that I should be aware of. Thank you.
