Class Experience

This class is for students who can already play violin on the beginner level and for students who are already playing fiddle and want to learn new tunes of which we will cover one per week. Each tune will be played, then broken down by section, with slow demonstration and explanation of each musical phrase. During the slow demonstration, we will use a call and response technique to allow students to learn each section. Questions and answers will happen throughout the class. As we go through this process specifics about the style and technique, along with related music theory, will discussed as appropriate to each tune as well as in response to students questions. Further supplemental information will be posted prior to each class including available resources for each tune such as sheet music and notation, performances/recordings, and backing tracks. At the end of each class, students should know the tune well enough to continue practicing on their own. For a traditional musician, learning a tune means it's your forever!
The Following is a list of tunes that will be taught in the required format and although I have them listed by week, this can be flexible. Parents and students are also welcome to request tunes. If they are not on the list, I will learn them and add them.
