Class experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will improve their knowledge on the particular drawing style from Studio Ghibli films.
I have been working with digital art since 2013. While the programs I've used vary, they all share many of the same tools and ease-of-use. I have worked with Adobe Suites--namely Illustrator, Animation, and Photoshop, and used other programs such as Krita, Clip Art Studio, and Procreate. I am constantly trying out new and exciting digital art programs to keep my knowledge on the subject up to date. I've drawn many illustrations, portraits, web comics, and even vector images as well as animation. This class focuses on the fundamentals of traditional drawing and the basics of digital art programs. I have been drawing traditionally since childhood and have always had a passion for teaching and inspiring others on their art journeys.
Some knowledge on at least one Studio Ghibli film is encouraged.
Traditional mediums such as pencil/paper/coloring markers (around $10)

AND
Basic knowledge of those programs is required.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Some Studio Ghibli films may not be appropriate for younger age groups and I suggest that parents watch the movies beforehand to determine their eligibility to be a part of the class. Advanced concepts like war, different societal norms and beliefs of different cultures, and feminine empowerment are evident in most of these movies. Most movies I have stated are rated G and PG are: Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind (PG), Castle in the Sky (PG and G), Kiki's Delivery Service (G and PG), My Neighbor Totoro (G), Spirited Away (PG), Howl's Moving Castle (G and PG), Ponyo (G), and The Secret World of Arrietty (G).

Characters I would allow are from Princess Mononoke and Tales from Earthsea, as they have wolves, dragons, and many interesting characters (like the forest spirit and the kodama-tree spirits)! But these two movies may not be appropriate for the student.

You are not required to have seen the movies to enjoy this class, but we will be referencing the characters by name and movie.
In this class, we will be drawing and discussing Studio Ghibli films from any medium. This means a student may choose to draw with traditional mediums (pencil, paper, markers, watercolors, acrylic paint, crayons, etc.) or with digital art programs (I will be using the iPad with an iPencil). Anyone who loves Studio Ghibli and wants to learn how to draw their favorite characters are welcome to join.
