update: I have new baby tortoises to share! In this class, students will learn about the amazing adaptations of turtles, such as the way they breathe in water and how they swim and walk. They learn the differences and similarities between a turtle and a tortoise. They will start discussing the answer to the question: Is a turtle a tortoise or is a tortoise a turtle? Learning will take place through discussion and slide show with pictures. Students will draw a turtle and a tortoise. My Red-footed tortoises, Tiby and Scarlett, will make an appearance in class, as I show the students the legs and shell of a tortoise and discuss how they are different from a water turtle.
Learning Goals
Students will understand what similarities and differences of water turtles and tortoises.
