Totally Terrific Topic Sentences for Writing

Topic sentences are the driving force of a paragraph.  In this class, we learn their purpose, how to identify them, where it is best to place them, and most importantly how to write an effective topic sentence.  The student will also learn that the paragraph has 3 parts:  the topic sentence, the detail sentences, and the concluding or ending sentence.  We will also practice adding an excellent topic sentence to a paragraph that is lacking one.  This class is of the most benefit if you learner is willing to interact during the practice portion of the class.  Please bring a paper and pencil.  I teach in a relaxed manner.  Class Rules:  We mute so we do not talk over one another, we raise our hand if we have a comment or a question, we are kind and respectful to everyone, and per the Outschool rules, the camera must be turned on during the beginning of class so I may verify the learner.
