During this class students will be introduced to 5 creative ways to begin a piece of writing. 1. Even though... 2. Since... 3. When... 4. If...then... 5. A Question?? Lecture and discussion with teacher driven examples will begin this class. Students will see how any of these types of sentences can be used for the same piece of writing. It will also be addressed that while any of the 5 CAN be used, in some cases there are certain ones that don’t work well. As the hour concludes students will be encouraged to come up with their own topic sentences using the tools from our toolbox.
