Class Experience

Watch your learner's reading, spelling and writing skills SOAR while taking this class designed specifically for fourth graders! 

This class is SUCCESSFUL at teaching young learners NEW spelling, vocabulary and sight words because it is:

In this on-going course, students will...

Students will expand their vocabulary and strengthen their reading comprehension and spelling skills by learning 10 words each week. Students will be able to correctly use and spell the words in their conversation and in their writing and recognize the words in their reading.

I have been teaching elementary school for 23 years, most of that time being in 4th grade. I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with an additional 30 hour concentration in the sciences in the state of Ohio and a Masters Degree in Education plus an additional 45 graduate credit hours in math, literacy and curriculum.  I have taught language arts, social studies, math, science, and STEM lab.

Learners will need index cards or notecards and a pencil.

Additionally, we use a website called Kahoot to play a spelling game at the end of class. Please ensure your learner knows how to open a second tab on his/her computer to access this game. OR, your learner can bring a second device to class, like a tablet or phone, to access the game.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:Kahoot

35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
