Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
If your learner loves animals, then this is the perfect class for them! While this class is designed to be FUN, we will cover topics like adaptations, habitats, environmental threats, and more.

In this 40-minute, one-time class, learners will meet one of my incredible live animals and learn about 10 unique animals from across the world. I have selected 10 of the most well-adapted, unusual, and fascinating animals found everywhere from the rainforests of South America to the deserts of Africa. For each species, we will introduce the wild adaptations that make each animal so incredible, along with some natural history information (like diet, habitat, and range). I will use a Google Slide presentation (this will be on screenshare to demonstrate animal species - you do not need an account) with beautiful photos and videos so we can see and hear the wonders of each animal.

This interactive class will provide thorough information about these incredible animals, give learners the opportunity to ask questions, and allow them to share their knowledge with other animal-loving kids. Your learner is sure to leave this class feeling inspired by nature and likely with a few (or a lot) of fun facts to share.
Learning Goals
Learners will feel an appreciation and respect towards animals and nature.
Learners will strengthen their passion towards wildlife.
Learners will have at least 3 fun facts to share about the animals we discuss.

Hi there!

My name is Sarah and I am so excited to explore wildlife, science, and conservation with your learner. I was born and raised in the Metroparks of Ohio, but I currently call the Sonoran Desert of Arizona my home.

I have had a strong love for wildlife and nature for my whole life and have built my career around it. In 2017, I graduated cum laude from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Conservation Biology and Ecology. I am a Certified Environmental Educator in Arizona and a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation.

After college, I worked on several wildlife studies in the field studying species like the western diamondback rattlesnake, spectacled rattlesnakes, and Bahamian rock iguanas. I gained experience as an informal educator developing programs for schools and homeschool students at the Phoenix Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, South Mountain Environmental Education Center, and SeaLife Aquarium.

At the start of COVID, I founded an organization that creates wildlife and conservation STEM resources for K-8 students, including a science curriculum program that teaches core science subjects with an engaging animal twist.

My greatest objective as an educator is to make science FUN. My classes cover important science topics while using wildlife and nature as our driving forces.
