The objective of these group tongue drum lessons is to enable the student to gain a greater set of technical and musical skills on the tongue drum, and to help the student develop a greater understanding of the role of the tongue drum in modern contemporary music. This is achieved through the repetitive practices of technique and coordination, as well as developing critical listening skills demanded of a percussionist. The lessons will meet the student at their skill level and assess ways in which they can grow as a percussionist. Example of class breakdown: Class 1: - Intro: Tongue Drums In Music - Parts of the drum - How to strike the drum - Learn Beat #1 & drum fill #1 Class 2: - The importance of warming up - Invisible Drums (Warm-up) - Review Beat #1 - Learn drum fill #2 & #3 - Simon Says: Drum Edition Class 3: - Invisible Drums (Warm-up) - 8-counts (what is it & how does it help our sense of rhythm) - The importance of repetition: Musical Endurance - Learn Beat #2 w/ drum fill #1 - Freeze Dance Class 4: - Invisible Drums (Warm-up) - 8-counts - Review Beat #2 w/ drum fill #1 - Learn Beat #2 w/ drum fill #2 & #3 - Simon Says: Drum Edition To Be Continued...
