Class Experience

Beginner Level
Together Time (ages 1-2)
Toddlers and caregivers will explore early American Sign Language (ASL) vocabulary through songs, stories, and movement-based activities in this fun and interactive baby sign language class. Designed for young learners ages 12–35 months, this class introduces signs like milk, more, all done, mommy, and play using visual, hands-on learning techniques that support early communication and bonding.

We’ll sing sign language songs each week, read toddler-friendly stories, and practice 3–5 simple signs tied to familiar themes like family, feelings, animals, food, and daily routines. The class strengthens language development while creating joyful, connected moments between children and their caregivers.

Caregivers will actively participate, learning to bring signs into everyday routines like mealtime, bedtime, and playtime. This class is ideal for families looking to build early language skills, reduce frustration, and connect through the power of ASL.

Learning Goals

Learners will be able to recognize and use 3–5 basic ASL signs related to everyday routines (e.g., eat, more, all done, mommy).
Learners will improve early communication skills by pairing simple signs with songs, stories, and movement.

With over 15 years of experience as an ASL educator, including ten years working directly within the Deaf community, I bring a wealth of expertise to this class. In addition to teaching ASL at various preschools and private kindergartens in my local area, I also lead a music and movement program. I have firsthand experience using signs to communicate with my daughter, who is hard of hearing and also an Outschool teacher.

My teaching philosophy centers around creating a fun and engaging learning environment that fosters a genuine desire to continue learning. It is important to note that this class strictly adheres to a professional code of ethics, and no sensitive information or high-risk topics are covered. Rest assured; our focus is on providing an enjoyable educational experience that inspires a lifelong love for ASL.
