Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Since 1964 the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) has been a rite of passage for millions of international students and professionals hoping to study or work in the United States. Even if they’ve studied English for years, most students find the test difficult and even frustrating. But how does it really work and what does it take to succeed? Through intensive, personalized training, this course provides students the training, information and resources they’ll need achieve their TOEFL goals.

Learning Goals

After discussing their score goals and taking a full assessment, students will be intensively coached in the four sections of the TOEFL (Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing). Personalized lessons will include detailed test taking strategies, step-by-step instruction, live practice, and extensive homework aimed at improving student TOEFL scores as quickly as possible. Students will also learn time management strategies, receive vocabulary and note taking advice, and find out about important changes coming to the TOEFL.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature from Dickinson College
A native English speaker with a degree in English and Political Science and two TEFL certificates, I've been teaching English to beginning and advanced students since 2012. I also score the speaking sections of the TOEFL iBT, TOEFL Essentials, and TOEIC exams and have successfully prepared many students to take the TOEFL as well as other international English exams.

I've taught 15,000 hours of English to well over a hundred students over the past 12 years and consider myself an expert in the field. Some of my students have been with me for 7 years or more and have become like family. I enjoy watching their development and helping them achieve their goals.
