Class experience
US Grade 11 - 12
This presentation is divided into three 55 minute classes. In the first class, we will discuss seniors' college to-do list, what admissions committees are looking for, how to choose a university, and typical prompts. This lesson also includes a brainstorming activity and prompts from the Common App. Lesson 2 will include suggestions for responding to these prompts and examples from prior students ( with their permission). We will also look at prompts from Appy Texas and The Coalition...
Students will practice brainstorming for ideas to write about and practice using language and detail to create an authentic voice. They will see examples of how ordinary, daily experiences can make a compelling narrative. They will be exposed to tips for writing well and bonus revision tips for them to use in editing and revising their own narratives.
