Class Experience

'Tis the season to be jolly!

***This is an inclusive class, and I am very happy to accommodate autistic children, dyslexic, ADHD or any other children with different abilities or disabilities. I have worked with a variety of children for 20 years in school and have been focusing on working with neurodiverse children in the last 2 years. Please send me a short message about your child, so I can adapt the class for their needs.

Does your child have lots of energy? Do they like to move during class? Does your child like singing, dancing and playing their musical instruments?
If, YES, then this class is for them!

I selected the most engaging Christmas songs and musical games, so we can have fun and get into the Christmas spirit! Children can wear their favourite Christmas jumpers, hats, PJs, costume etc. We will also play the drums (or a pan and a spoon), egg shakers (home-made ones with a bottle and few pasta inside), bells, ukulele (if they have one), a harmonica or recorder/whistle (or a paper roll tube to blow through).

Some Christmas songs we will sing (children will get to vote on some songs as well, so we might not sing all of them if they don't get voted):
1. Hello Song - I've Got The Music
2. If It's Christmas and You Know It - Children will interact with me, telling me about what do they do at Christmas, and we will make up a song with their responses included.
3. Jingle-Jingle Little Bell - with hand bells or bell shakers
4. Jingle Bells - with bells or shakers and actions like: walking, rolling, tip toe. We will play a little game with this song: children will have to complete the line with a word of their choice, and we will sing our version ie '_________ through the snow' might become 'Marching through the snow'.
5. 12 Days of Christmas - sing along with hand signs
6. Santa Claus is coming to town / Up on the Rooftop - we will drum or play on a pan/plastic tab
7. Good-bye Song

We will also talk about each child's favourite thing about Christmas and how do they celebrate it in their own families. Please talk to your children, so they show respect for everybody and all the cultures and traditions that children share with us.
Sounds like fun? I'll meet you there!

My name is Bella and I have been a teacher for 20 years. I love teaching music, guitar and ukulele to young children because it gives them a way to FIND who they are, to EXPRESS their feelings, emotions and thoughts and to LET IT GO!

I have found that young children love playing musical instruments, making up their own songs, creating rhythmic patterns and learning a new musical instrument through story-type lessons. I am building each new lesson on their interests and passion, aiming not only to teach them a skill, but to develop a life-long LOVE for music, to SING, CREATE and PLAY the songs from their hearts!

My classes are fun, interactive, small groups of children where each child finds their voice and shines bright!
