In this one-time class, students will learn how to pipe icing on a cupcake using a variety of piping tips and techniques.

Class Experience

This class will teach cupcake design and piping techniques using tips and piping bags. The class will be interactive and hands-on and will encourage learners to practice these skills. Learners will be expected to come to class prepared to follow along at home with their own icing and treats (actual cupcakes are not required, but they will want to have something to practice decorating). 0Learners will need to come to class prepared to decorate their own cupcake. For this they will need:
- A sweet treat: This could be a plain cupcake, cookie, or cake. If baked goods are not available, the student can use a flat dish to practice on. 
- Icing - Any kind will work. Standard American buttercream would be easiest to practice. (1/2 cup unsalted butter, 2 cups icing sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 2 tablespoons milk or cream, desired food colouring)
- Piping bags (large ziploc bags can be used in a pinch)
- Piping tips (I will be using an open star, closed star, round, and petal tip)
- Sprinkles or other desired decorations
