30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This class will teach cupcake design and piping techniques using tips and piping bags. The class will be interactive and hands-on and will encourage learners to practice these skills. Learners will be expected to come to class prepared to follow along at home with their own icing and treats (actual cupcakes are not required, but they will want to have something to practice decorating). The teacher will provide step-by-step instruction as well as demonstration of various techniques. We will learn about using round tips, open star tips, closed star tips, and petal tips. We will also discuss what makes a deliciously beautiful cupcake. No previous skills are required. Beginner bakers and decorators are welcome to come, have fun, and try their hand at creating beautiful sweet treats!
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to design a beautiful cupcake, including icing colour, piping tip selection, icing design

Supply List
Learners will need to come to class prepared to decorate their own cupcake. For this they will need: - A sweet treat: This could be a plain cupcake, cookie, or cake. If baked goods are not available, the student can use a flat dish to practice on. - Icing - Any kind will work. Standard American buttercream would be easiest to practice. (1/2 cup unsalted butter, 2 cups icing sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 2 tablespoons milk or cream, desired food colouring) - Piping bags (large ziploc bags can be used in a pinch) - Piping tips (I will be using an open star, closed star, round, and petal tip) - Sprinkles or other desired decorations
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
