Description
Class Experience
In this social and action-packed 30-minute class, we’ll explore ballet and creative movement with animal themed music and dances! At the start of each class, we’ll say a quick hello so we can get to know each other and talk about the Animal of the Day that the class is themed on. Then we’ll warm-up our bodies and learn our ballet basics (1st position, 2nd position, plie, tendu, passe, chasse, arabesque, pique & pas de chat). Each week we’ll engage in a creative movement game or socialization...
1) Actively participate in movement to support motor skills and social-emotional development. 2) Learn basic ballet steps and terms.
I have over 6 years of dance and theater instructing experience for large scale competition studios, theatres, and preschool programs and have been directing community theatre productions for 3 years. As a professional dancer with a Group Fitness Instructor Certification, I have an in-depth knowledge of movement science and safe practices. Alongside my Bachelor’s in Theatre Studies, I also hold two Associate degrees in Child Development and Social and Behavioral Sciences- making me well versed in instructional techniques for preschool aged students.
Dancers are welcome to wear a leotard and tights, their favorite dress-up costume, or moveable street clothes. Ballet shoes or jazz shoes are recommended but bare feet are also welcomed! A distraction-free space where you can freely and safely move is also recommended, as well as having a water bottle close by.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Dance is a physical activity which should always be done with parental supervision. Dancing on a flat and uncluttered floor space is encouraged to help eliminate potential hazards. Having water close by and taking breaks when needed is also encouraged. If the child has a physical limitation or medical condition which is aggravated by movement, please consult a doctor before participating.
Miss Lexa does not own and did not create the music or characters used in class. Music and characters referenced are used only as an instructional tool to support learning.
