This class will be about learning tap dancing steps and movement to music. It is a very easy and fun class especially for young learners. We will dance to children's songs and all the steps and movements will be easy and fun to follow. I will begin the class with asking everyone their name and explaining what we are going to do in the class. We will then do some warming up movements to music to get us in a dance fun mood. We will then try some tap steps, then try them to some music. We will...
Students will learn movements to music. They will learn how to do some tap steps and how to put the steps to the numbers 1,2,3,4.
Learners should either wear Tap shoes or hard soled shoes. If neither are available, sports shoes are fine. ( Please ensure any shoes with laces have the laces tied firmly to avoid stepping on them by accident.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
Your learner dancer needs to be wearing comfortable clothing that they can easily move in. Please have a large enough space for your dancer to move and turn around freely without fear of bumping into something or knocking something over. We will begin without shoes for some warm up exercises. After warm up we will wear our shoes to complete the class. Learners should either wear Tap shoes or hard soled shoes. If neither are available, sports shoes are fine. ( Please ensure any shoes with laces have the laces tied firmly to avoid stepping on them by accident.) A tapping board made of plywood or something similar ( to stand on and tap) is useful, but nor essential. My board that I use in class is from a hardware store and measures appx. 35 x 45 inches. Please have drinking water on hand too, as the dancers may become thirsty during their activities
