These classes will be about learning tap dancing steps, and movements to music. They are very easy classes, especially for young learners and all the steps and movements will be set to easy counts. Each class will begin with greeting the learners and explaining what we are going to do in the class. We will then do a few simple exercises to music for three or four minutes to warm us all up ang get into a dance fun mood. I will then begin to demonstrate some steps and show the children how...
Students will learn movements to music. They will learn how to do some tap steps and how to put the steps to counts and music.
I trained in ballet, tap and modern jazz in England, UK. I have qualifications in RAD advanced ballet (UK) / ISTD tap and modern (UK) I worked for many years as a professional dancer myself and I have choreographed and taught tap, jazz and ballet to many dancers that continued on to work professionally in theatre shows. I love teaching children and I am looking forward to sharing some of my techniques with my new learners.
A little practice time between classes is recommended if possible.
Learners should either wear tap shoes or hard soled shoes. If neither are available, sports shoes are fine. ( Please ensure any shoes with laces have the laces tied firmly to avoid stepping on them by accident.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Your learner dancer needs to be wearing comfortable clothing that they can easily move in. Please have a large enough space for your dancer to move and turn around freely without fear of bumping into something or knocking something over. Please ensure any shoes with laces have the laces tied firmly to avoid stepping on them by accident. Please have drinking water on hand too, as the dancers may become thirsty during their activities.
