In this club, learners will explore key moments in World History through carefully selected passages on topics such as Ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, and China. As they read, students will strengthen their reading comprehension skills by answering questions designed to enhance critical thinking. These exercises will help them analyze details, make inferences, and develop a deeper understanding of historical narratives. Through this interactive approach, learners will not only improve their reading skills but also build a greater appreciation for history. A typical session will follow this structure: each week, learners will engage with a World History reading passage. After reviewing and discussing the key information— including new vocabulary— they will apply critical thinking strategies, with my guidance, to answer comprehension questions, primarily in a multiple-choice format. Learners will have a moment to reflect before submitting their answers, after which we will analyze the correct response and explore why other options were incorrect. I will provide a detailed explanation of how the right answer can be determined based on the information presented in the passage. I believe learning should be exciting, interactive, and meaningful. That’s why I use engaging content that keeps students motivated and curious. They won’t just be stronger readers—they’ll be confident thinkers, better problem solvers, and young historians with a deep appreciation for the past! Please note: I encourage learners to actively participate in discussions, ask questions, volunteer to read aloud, and share their answers, but I will never pressure anyone to do so. My goal is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels comfortable and valued. I recognize that learning styles vary, and some learners may prefer to observe and process information quietly. If your child is shy, self-conscious about speaking, or prefers not to share their answers, please feel free to inform me in advance so I can be mindful of their needs. This club is designed for learners in grades 2 and 3, but this is only a guideline—some children may find it too easy or too challenging. If you believe your child needs a higher level of difficulty, I recommend my other club, World Explorers: Critical Readers Uncover History, which follows a similar format with more advanced material. Additionally, if I notice that a child is either struggling or not sufficiently challenged, I will reach out to parents to discuss the best fit.
