Hello! It is "Time to Tell the Time...by Five-Minute Intervals" in this one-time class for 5-9 year olds! In this class, we will cover reading time by five minutes on analog and digital clocks. We will begin by discussing the minutes on a clock and what the numbers on an analog clock mean. We will practice counting by 5's and connect that to reading time by five minutes. We will then practice telling time by five and ten minutes together on our clocks. We will strengthen our knowledge and flexibility of telling time by five minutes through writing and showing the time by five and ten minutes, through the use of flashcards, and games. I believe meeting students where they are at academically is so important and we won't move on until we are ready. I also believe it is paramount that learning be engaging, so we will be playing games and having fun in class! Please join me on this journey of telling time! Supply List
Please print off the analog and digital clocks for students to use in class. It would be helpful to make the clocks useable with dry erase markers by inserting the clocks into a plastic sleeve or laminating them. If unable to do so, please use a pencil so that the time can be erased and a new time can be shown. The analog clock can also be cut out and hour and minute hands can be created and fastened with a brad.
