A beginner tap dance class for 4-6 year olds.
Class experience
Welcome to your beginner tap dance class for young learners! No experience is required for this beginner class. In this class we will explore the parts of our feet and how they make different sounds. After stretching our legs, we will work on tap movements incorporating our toes and heels. New movements will include shuffles, flaps, hops, toe-ball-heel, stomps, and slow cramp rolls. We will work on dance combinations at the end of each class incorporating the new movements, our hands, and our...
Students will learn about keeping rhythm, beginner tap movements, and differentiating between the balls and heels of their feet. They will work on incorporating the movements into a short combination at the end of class.
Tap shoes are recommended, but not required. Students may use flexible sneakers (with laces tied tightly). Please make sure your child takes the class in an open area where they will not accidentally kick something or put themselves in danger. Ideally, the space would not be slippery, but if it is a slippery surface, it is recommended to use non-stick socks or shoes. Parents and guardians should remain nearby to assist and prevent accidents. Having a water bottle nearby is ideal. If class is taken during warmer months, it is ideal to have an air conditioner or fan running to prevent overheating.
It is highly recommended that parents accompany their young dancer and provide assistance.
