This class is for the INTERMEDIATE level tap dancer (not a beginner). The learner should already have prior knowledge of tap terms such as "toe" and "heel" and working towards "shuffles/flaps." If you are unsure, please feel free to send me a message and I will guide you to the appropriate level! Classes will begin with a warm up to increase mobility and flexibility. We will stretch to make sure our bodies are ready to move! We will work on incorporating rhythm, new techniques including (but not limited to) shuffles, flaps, cramp rolls, stomp-hops, and confidence in our own bodies.
Learning Goals
Students will learn new techniques including (but not limited to) shuffles, flaps, cramp rolls, stomp-hops, and confidence in our own bodies. A combination will be taught in each lesson.

Supply List
Tap shoes are recommended. Students may use flexible sneakers (with laces tied tightly). Please make sure your child takes the class in an open area where they will not accidentally kick something or put themselves in danger. Ideally, the space would not be slippery, but if it is a slippery surface, it is recommended to use non-stick socks or shoes. Parents and guardians should remain nearby to assist and prevent accidents. Having a water bottle nearby is ideal. If class is taken during warmer months, it is ideal to have an air conditioner or fan running to prevent overheating.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello current friends and future friends!
Welcome to Ms. Sarah's virtual classes! I am super excited to share my passions including dance, world travel, music, writing, theater, and more with your children! My typical classes are high energy and intended to build skills, increase confidence, and have fun.
I graduated with honors with a double major in Psychology and Communications with a minor in Music from The City University of New York--Hunter College. I studied in Argentina at La Universidad de Mar del Plata and I hold a TESOL Certificate from Arizona State University.
My experience includes both in-school and online teaching, particularly as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher over the last four years and as a dance teacher for about ten years. As an ESL teacher, have worked with thousands of foreign learners, guiding them to high achievement with their English skills. I've created and utilized many tools and techniques to increase student output and improve their written, spoken, and reading skills. I also work as a mentor for new online ESL teachers. I was also who helped build the English skills of students at a local school in Livingstone, Zambia in Africa. I have taught and can speak both Spanish and Hebrew as well.
I am a trained dancer with experience holding classes in ballet, jazz, contemporary, theater, and hip hop. I studied and trained my whole life as a dancer. I danced with companies and in shows in New York City. I have also taught dance at schools in New York City, abroad in other countries. I hold both personal and virtual dance and movement classes with the company I created in my area. I ran the dance department at a day rehabilitation facility for special needs adults and at a school for the blind. What is my philosophy behind teaching dance? Dance is an art form. It is a creation of movement used to tell a story. My classes are constructed with the aim of building the student's confidence and providing a safe space for their own exploration. Classes are meant to be challenging, but very fun!
Fun Fact: Upon graduating from college, my big goal was to hit "30 before 30!" I have traveled the world, meeting so many different people along the way, as I made it my mission to see 30 countries. I am looking forward to meeting all of my future friends who live around the USA and around the world.
I am so excited to see you soon in my classroom!
