Class Experience

Are you afraid of fractions?! Don't be! Fractions are all around us!

In this 3-week summer camp, students will be introduced to fractions and build an understanding of what they represent. I will provide students with many visuals of fractions that will help deepen their understanding. Each day I will build on the previous concept and continue to develop the learners fraction sense. This class is taught in English.

In "Learning All About Fractions" students will:
1) Explain what a fraction represents
2) Identify equivalent fractions
3) Compare fractions

I am a 4th grade teacher and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in social studies. This is my fourth year teaching. I have also taught 6th and 7th grade English/Language Arts for one year. In my fourth grade classroom, I teach math, reading, writing and social studies.

Also, I have always enjoyed watching baseball and it is my favorite sport! I find baseball statistics interesting and like thinking about how baseball and math are related.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:Nearpod

1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.

We will use Nearpod.com which requires parental consent. Students do not need an account. They will click on a link that I share in the Zoom chat to get to the website.
