Step into the world of self-expression through art! In this class, students will explore the concept of self-portraits by examining works created by renowned artists across history, including Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Vincent van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Henri Matisse, Andy Warhol, Rembrandt, and Yayoi Kusama. Using the Elements of Art as a guide, students will analyze each self-portrait to uncover the mood, artistic intent, and unique styles of these masters. They will discuss how each artist used color, line, shape, texture, and space to convey emotion and tell their story. Inspired by the works studied, students will create their own self-portraits, expressing their individuality and creativity. The class will conclude with a sharing session where students can showcase their art, give and receive positive feedback, and celebrate each other’s unique creations. This class introduces students to a variety of famous artists, their distinctive styles, and the building blocks of art, while fostering artistic confidence, creativity, and building new friendships.
