In this one-time class, students will learn about the 7 pieces of a Tangram set while enjoying a classic story with a twist. Students will also play an interactive tangram game and make their own creations after the fun story.

In this one-time hands-on class, students will first be introduced to the seven magic shapes - a Tangram! Then the students will enjoy the story Three Pigs, One Wolf, and Seven Magic Shapes by Grace Maccarone. We will be discussing what the Tangram shapes make during the read-aloud, as well as the attributes of the shapes. After the fun story, the students will get to create some of the objects and animals from the story by playing an interactive game. Students will get to move tangram pieces around using their computer mouse or touch pad. Finally, the students will get a chance to create some creatures or objects on their own using the attached printable.
Learning Goals
Students will be identifying the shapes from the Tangram. Students will talk about the attributes of the shapes. Students will use the seven shapes to make characters/objects from the story as well as their own imagined works of art.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Students will be using scissors to cut out the seven Tangram pieces.

The copy of the attached Tangram paper, scissors, crayons or markers are optional
