In this ongoing academic (and fun) class, students will learn about historic events that happened "this week" in history. New students are always welcome!
Class experience
US Grade 4 - 6
Beginner Level
This class will provide students the opportunity to increase their knowledge of world history. I can lead the discussion, or students can do research beforehand and share what they found with each other. We will focus on briefly exploring a range of topics, rather than going into depth. Slides, images and/or video clips may be included. Student participation and discussion is encouraged. The "week" will be determined by the Monday through Sunday dates. I am a certified social studies teacher with over a decade of experience working with learners. I am certified in Missouri and Indiana to teach social studies to grades 5-12. *Social studies refers to American History, Geography, Government/Civics, Sociology, Psychology, and World History. I focus on individualizing lessons to meet the needs of learners, including those who struggling and/or students who need more challenge. I have a BA in Political Science, a MA in Secondary Education, and an Ed Spec degree in Educational Technology. I use technologies in effective and creative ways to enhance the learning process and increase motivation of learners. Violent or graphic images or language will not be included or allowed. Topics will be share in the online classroom. I want to avoid things that would make any student uncomfortable. If a sensitive topic, marginalized group or other historical conversation of sensitive nature occurs, I will ensure the focus is on the historical event we are discussing, relying on the facts.
