This is Venom! "Finding the Facts in Science Fiction Vol 1"

Class
Your child will analyze the Marvel movie "Venom" using science literacy and group discussion. The class will address the following science topics: Symbiosis, Invasive Species, and Psychosis. Each volume of my series will focus on a different Marvel, DC, or scifi movie that students are required to watch prior to taking the course. Many movies are PG-13 due to profanity or violence.

Description

Class Experience

Students will learn to apply scientific concepts to the world of science fiction in order to determine how accurately it relates to the science topics that they have been taught in class.
I have been a high school science teacher in the public school for the past 23 years and have created and used this course to analyze at least a dozen current Marvel, DC, and other science fiction movies. I have also used it as the theme of my yearly Halloween costume and lesson plans. My students have greatly enjoyed watching or rewatching the movies and "finding the facts in science fiction."
The assessment will be in the form of ten multi-part questions focused on the main character in the movie and the science concepts that relate to the movie.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Some of the movies that students may be asked to view may have scenes involving the use of occasional profanity. Ie: the "S" or "F' words.
We will refer back to events in the movie being discussed.
