Class Experience

G'day Bluey fans! Is it time to play and go on a fruit and vegetable adventure? This engaging, interactive and upbeat Bluey inspired class, cleverly takes all the games, imagination and adventures that these loveable blue heelers have, and ties it all in with fruit and vegetables! Fruit and vegetables that are mentioned in Bluey episodes (as well as other fresh produce), will be introduced through interactive games including keepy uppy (as vegetables help our bodies to keep up), the capsicum magic xylophone game, and of course 'dance mode' will spontaneously occur at any moment! The Grannies even make an appearance and we'll try not to get ourselves into a pickle! By introducing and highlighting fresh produce through the delightful adventures of Bluey, helps to make fruit and vegetables more appealing to children and they'll hopefully be more likely to put them on their plate moving forward.

We will sing some songs and warm-up our bodies inspired by a variety of fruit from the 'fruit bat' episode, and we will have fun using our magic asparagus. The aim of this bumper Bluey class is to uncover and celebrate the important world of vegetables and fruit. Getting children to eat their fruit and vegetables can certainly feel like a timeless struggle, but as Bluey's Mum Chilli said in 'The Pool' episode "boring things are important". This class makes sure that fruit & vegetables are anything but boring and that it's great to eat them 'for real life'.

Learners will get to interact as much or as little as they feel comfortable doing so. My teaching style is very engaging, encouraging and fun. If you'd prefer a different class time that is more suitable, please let me know and I'll do my best to accomodate that. Thank you so much for checking out my class, I'm excited to go on this adventure with your little Bluey fans.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Mrs Elizabeth (aka Carrots) and I'm from Australia. I'm so delighted to be teaching on the Outschool community. I know we are going to have lots of fun together exploring the amazing, important and colourful world of Vegetables & Fruit.

Our little learners will go on a very interactive, engaging and upbeat journey as we uncover some super cool facts about these super food heroes. My classes aim to have FUN with vegetables and fruit and each class incorporates a different theme that children are already interested in, such as Dinosaurs, Outer Space, Old McDonald's Farm, the Jungle, Pirate adventures, Fairytales, Disney and Bluey characters. By introducing the fresh produce into themes the children are already interested in, this helps to make them more receptive to learning and more open to embrace vegetables. We will have fun engaging with funny vegetable and fruit characters through story-telling, imaginary adventures, singing silly songs, moving and grooving in super cool dance warm-ups and playing interactive games.

Getting children to eat their vegetables can feel like a timeless struggle, however I believe that my fresh and innovative approach will help to shine a light on fresh produce, making them more appealing and make vegetables as cool as a cucumber! Don't worry, I never use the word 'healthy' in my classes or talk about antioxidants, phytonutrients & vitamin c, etc. as this doesn't resonate with preschool aged children. I do talk about how vegetables and fruit can help our bodies grow and that they can help different parts of our body function.

Hopefully my classes are the right ingredients to appeal, to help encourage, promote, familiarise and to help break down those barriers of children being reluctant to want to eat their vegetables.

My professional background is in acting. I have been performing in Theatre & TV work for over 20 years. I'm trained as an actor and I also have a Diploma in Arts majoring in Communication Studies. I've also worked with children in various capacities over the years. I'm so thrilled to be combining my two absolute passions - performing & nutrition, particularly helping to encourage children's intake of vegetables.

When I'm not teaching on Outschool, I love spending time with my wonderful children and husband, working on my business called Carrots & Co (a play-based program for Childcare Centres about veg and fruit!), going to the beach and reading. Thank you so much for stopping by and I can't wait to welcome your little learner in class.
