Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
This course will run as a live 'This Day in History' group.  Students will have the opportunity to find and discuss historical events from the day that interest them.  The group will provide a jumping off point for learners to start the day interacting with a group of like minded students.  
This course will be discussion based.  The instructor will bring 2-3 'This Day in History' topics to discuss in class with students.  These topics will vary day by day, but an example schedule is provided below: 

5 Minutes: Greetings and Share Time
5 Minutes: Student Day in History Findings 
10 Minutes: Instructor Discusses 'This Day in History' Events
5 Minutes: Wrap Up

As an example of the topics that could be discussed in class, I have provided a sample list of topics pertaining to the historical events of December 9th.  On that day, the topics that would be presented by the instructor are as follows:
1.  In 1868, the world's first traffic light was installed in London.  
2. In 1965, an American classic, "A Charlie Brown Christmas" was first aired on television.  
3.  In 1868, the world's first traffic light was installed in London.  
4. In 1995, the USS John C. Stennis, an American Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, was commissioned.

Students will learn a variety of interesting historical facts, while developing their own research skills

Other Details

Parental Guidance
No violent or graphic information will be presented in this class. The class will not cover difficult or complex topics that are in need of lengthy analysis of historic contextualization, as the length of this course does not allow for these discussions.
