Class Experience
The focus of this class will be on using repetition and strategies to help understand place value and improve addition. Each class will run in the same format to instill confidence and security in the children. We will begin with a mental math warm-up that will involve various methods of counting. I am a licensed teacher in the State of Indiana with over 25 years experience teaching, tutoring and coaching. I have been trained in the Orton-Gillingham method by The Dyslexia Institute of Indiana and in Kindergarten OG by the M.A. Rooney Foundation. I have completed Advanced Orton-Gillingham Training and Written Expression Training through the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana. I have completed courses on Dyslexia and structured literacy through the Montessori Foundation. I have also taken a Conscious Discipline training. I am a professional member of the International Dyslexia Association. I am currently working on LETRS training through Voyager Sopris Learning and have completed Units 1-5 with Certificates of Mastery. In 2018-2020 I worked in a private Montessori school serving students who have Individual Service Plans.
Optional homework may be given in the form of practice pages or games that can be played to practice and reinforce the skills we are learning in class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
