Class Experience

Third Grade Writer's Workshop is a student-centered framework with a mini lesson for teaching writing. Students learn to write best when they write frequently especially on topics of their own choosing. Third Grade Writer's Workshop will begin with a whole group class instruction targeting key writing skills. The writing workshop is a gradual release of responsibility. I Do, We Do, You Do. As a result, learners are expected to interact with the teacher and with fellow students as they work on the writing workshop writing activities.

Learning Goals

Students will learn to form ideas, choose their best idea and add details. Afterwards, be able to use their ideas to write a short story.

While working together with family members, I will support your goals. I will provide the parents and children with the tools they need to meet their personal and academic goals. “Family members play a vital role in helping children develop a joy for learning and an understanding that learning is a process, something that all children and adults do, all their lives. Therefore, taking this approach, family learning is the learning that family members engage in over their lifetimes.” -Lynn Dierking
