Third Grade Math: Word Problem Workshop (Weekly, Ongoing)

Math is all around us, from calculating what time to leave for soccer practice to splitting candy among friends. But, word problems can be tricky to master! That's why we've designed a class to help students build the skills they need to solve real-world math problems.

Our Third Grade Common Core-aligned class will teach your child how to read and understand word problems, identify the correct equations to use, and solve problems using strategies like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (single and multi-step), measurement and data, geometry, fractions, place value, and number sense.

Every week, we'll explore new and engaging word problems, and our students will learn how to solve them through interactive discussions, group work, and individual practice. Our fun math games and activities will help to reinforce key concepts and keep students engaged and excited about learning.

We start each class with an icebreaker question, set expectations for a fun and respectful learning environment, work through a range of challenging word problems, and wrap up with a game that will put your child's math skills to the test!

Please note that for this class, students should be comfortable solving multiplication equations. If your child is not yet comfortable with multiplication, we recommend our 2nd Grade Word Problem class.
