US Grade 3
MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THIS CLASS ARE LISTED BELOW.

This semester long math class is ideal for 8 through 10/ 11 year old children, depending on their abilities and previous knowledge. The children will be introduced to a topic during the class session and then have follow-up activities to do during the week.

Students and parents should be willing to engage in a variety of multi-sensory activities to support learning math concepts, in addition to class time. Each week will include several pages of home-time learning, outside of class session time.

The class meets three times per week for 30-minute sessions and will utilize Singapore Math, a world-renowned math program. Families are responsible for purchasing the required materials, which consists of 2 books, a student textbook and a workbook. Students will have regular assignments from these.

A class at this level requires much involvement on the part of the parent. Many parents choose to sit with the child during class sessions, or follow along in the classroom on a daily basis.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a dual degree in Spanish and Economics, the latter involving a good deal of math. I have been tutoring and working with young children for over twenty years. I have helped many students improve their basic skills. A program like Singapore's, gives children the foundations they need for later math.

Here is what one parent has said about lessons with me:

Great tutor
I was looking for a tutor for my son, he needed to improve skills in math, reading and writing. We found Brigid on the website. I was present on my son's first lesson with her. I would have to say it was very impressive. Her method to teach, her professionalism, her passion for what she does, everything made me think that we got exactly what we were looking for and my son already looks very motivated to reach the goal. Thanks to Brigid, she is great tutor and would strongly recommend her to anybody who really needs to improve academic skills.
