Third Grade Math Tutoring

This course is designed for  3rd graders to get extra help and excel in Math.  
The goal of the class is to keep 3rd graders ahead of the curve and not fall behind in this subject.  The class will meet twice a week and each class will be 30 minutes.  It will continue for the whole school year.  All students will be active participants and will be asked to answer questions to make sure they are following along.  Feedback and concerns will be addressed to parents so that this class can achieve the desired results.
Here is the units that will be covered in this tutoring class for third grade:
Unit 1: Place Values, Rounding, Addition, and Subtraction. Students develop fluency with addition and subtraction within 1,000. They learn how to solve one-and two-step word problems involving addition and subtraction.

Units 2 & 3: Multiplication and Division. Students learn multiplying double digit and triple digit numbers. Students also solve one-step multiplication and division word problems.

In Unit 4, Area. Students learn how to find the area of squares, rectangles and triangles. They also learn how to find the area of regular and irregular shapes.

In Unit 5: Area and Perimeter word problems. Students learn the difference between perimeter and area. Plus they learn how to determine if a word problem if asking them to find the perimeter or area.

In Unit 6: Fractions. Finding equivalent fractions and comparing fractions. Finding the least common multiple and the greatest common factor.

In Unit 7, Measuring length and telling time. Learning how to use a ruler, converting inches to feet to yards. Reading time learning how to tell the elapsed time.
