US Grade 3
This half semester math class is ideal for 8 through 10 year old children, depending on their abilities and previous knowledge. It covers the first half of the coursebook, and is followed by the second half (part 2). The children will be introduced to a topic during the class session and then have follow-up activities to do during the week. While the class meets three times per week, families should be prepared to spend time daily, practicing math. Students and parents should be willing to engage in a variety of multi-sensory activities to support learning math concepts, in addition to class time. Each week will include several pages of home-time learning, outside of class session time. The class will meet three times per week for 30 minute sessions and will utilize Singapore Math, a world renowned math program. Families are responsible for purchasing the required materials as students will have regular assignments, in addition to active, sensory-immersion activities that are developmentally appropriate for 8 - 10 year old children. Singapore Primary Math is an excellent series for those who want a fair amount of practice without excess busywork. You can read a review of Singapore Primary Mathematics by Cathy Duffy here: https://cathyduffyreviews.com/homeschool-reviews-core-curricula/math/grades-k-6/singapore-math-primary-mathematics My classes focus heavily on the various tools, strategies, and models available to students, and we use these constantly during class to help them develop the ability to determine on their own, which tool or model best applies to a given situation.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been tutoring, teaching, and working with young children for over twenty years. I have helped many students improve their basic skills. I have found the Singapore Primary Mathematics program to give students a solid foundation for higher level math.
