Description
Class Experience
Students will be use place value understanding to round to the nearest ten and hundred. Students will fluently add and subtract within 1,000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction. Students will multiply one-digit whole numbers by multiples of 10 in the range of 10-90 (e.g. 9x80) using strategies based on place value and properties of operations.
Massachusetts Licensed in Special Education and Mathemematics as well as years of experience in the public school system and homeschooling my own children. Years being very active in the homeschool community and homeschool mentor.
Students will be assigned homework weekly. Assignments will be posted in the classroom within 24 hours after each class meeting for download. Many assignments are in the form of interactive notebook (cut, glue and do). There are also a few online game options and games where kids cut out cards and have a table to fill in (e.g. flip two number cards and do the game-independent game, instructions included)
markers, crayons, or colored pencils glue/glue stick scissors brass fastener for spinning effect (can do without if necessary) cardstock small toy car (matchbox car is perfect) oatmeal bin or something to prop up a ramp about 5 inches or so
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal assessment and formal assessments available upon request for parent download
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Kids will be using scissors and glue. Parents may need to supervise for safety.
Students and teacher will use online interactive manipulatives such as base ten blocks and table and number line, online games (education.com), and interactive notebook pintables.
