In this ongoing ten (10) week course, we will focus on one basic concept or skill from third grade skill sets each week. For each class, students will be given direct instruction of the concept of focus. They will then be given example problems to work on in whole group, following the teacher’s example and directions. This time will allow for open discussion and questions to be asked in order to gain a deeper understanding. Finally, students will be given their own problem(s) to work on during that class time. Each class will be an independent skill worked on from previous weeks, so learners may come and go as they see fit throughout the course. Topics will include: **Dates and Weekly topics will be adjusted as-needed.** SUMMER CLASS: Week One: (May 20): Rounding up to 100's Week Two: (May 27): Strategies for adding three digit numbers Week Three: (June 3): Strategies for subtraction of three digit numbers Week Four: (June 10): Subtraction with regrouping within thousands place Week Five: (June 17): Intro multiplication Week Six: (June 24): 1 to 2 digit multiplication Week Seven: (July 1): Intro to division Week Eight: (July 8): Division Week Nine: (July 15): Intro to fractions Week Ten: (July 22): Fractions greater than 1 **************************************************************************************************** SEMESTER QUICK SCHEDULE: Week One: (May 21/23): Expanded form/rounding Week Two: ( May 28/No class May 30): Add three and four digit numbers with regrouping Week Three: (No Class June 4/ June 6): Subtract three and four digit numbers with regrouping Week Four: (June 11/13): Elapsed time Week Five: (June 18/20): Area and perimeter Week Six: (June 25/27): Adding money and making change Week Seven: (July 2/ No Class July 4): Fractions Week Eight: (July 9/11): Mixed Numbers Week Nine: (July 16/18): Multiplication Basic Week Ten: (July 23/25): Multiplication two/three digit by one digit Week Eleven: (July 30/Aug 1): Division Basic Week Twelve: (Aug 6/8): Graphing **Videos and/or worksheets will be provided on the weeks with a missing class

Students should come prepared with a writing utensil and something to write on for each class! Students will be asked to "show their work" for each class.

I love to laugh and to hear others laughing. My teaching style is to break ideas down into small chunks to make it so all learners can navigate at their own pace and using their own understanding. I always aim to get my students laughing too while accomplishing this. The more we laugh, the more we love what we are doing and I want my students to love learning!
