This class is different from others because it follows a curriculum and is academically focused while being engaging and motivating for all learners. The curriculum is cross-curricular so science and social studies topics be also be covered. Small class sizes ensure that your child gets the one on one instruction your child needs, child will learn to read guaranteed! Get your child ready for school! This course will cover all 3rd Grade ELA state standards to meet homeschool requirements. This class will teach TEST TAKING STRATEGIES! Third Grade State Standards: KEY IDEAS AND DETAILS Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding Determine the central message, lesson, or moral Describe characters in a story and how their actions impact the story CRAFT AND STRUCTURE Determine the meaning of words and phrases Distinguishing literal from nonliteral language Distinguish their own point of view from that of the narrator or those of the characters. INTERGRATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND IDEAS Explain how text's illustrations contribute to what is conveyed in the story Compare and contrast the themes, settings, and plots of stories KEY IDEAS AND DETAILS Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text Determine the main idea of a text, key details, and main idea Describe the relationship between a series of historical events and scientific ideas CRAFT AND STRUCTURE Determine the meaning of general academic and domain-specific words and phrases Use text features and search to locate information relevant to a given topic efficiently. INTERGRATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND IDEAS Describe the logical connection between particular sentences and paragraphs in a text Compare and contrast the most important points and key details presented in two texts FLUENCY Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension. Read on-level text Use context to confirm or self-correct word recognition and understanding WRITING Write opinion pieces Introduce the topic or text they are writing about State an opinion and create an organizational structure that lists reasons. Parental Guidance
This course will use the Raz-Plus curriculum. The curriculum is used for elementary students. No subscriptions are required. These tools will we used in our online lessons during class with minimal downloading/printing.
Pre-Requisites
Learners need to know the foundations of reading, comprehension writing, phonics, and grammar. My reading assessment class is a recommend prerequisite to determine which class would fit the needs of your child best.
