Our class is designed for third graders but is perfect for anyone who wants to improve their math skills. Each week, we'll have 2 videos to help us learn new skills. Week 1Lesson 1Week 1 Number SenseWe will learn cool ways to represent numbers (like expanded form & word form), rounding, add and subtract with and without regrouping, and even multiply with repeated addition.Week 2Lesson 2Week 2 Operations of Multiplication and DivisionWe will learn multiplication and division, fact families, order of operations, and different strategies for multiplication facts. We will practice our skills with ABCya Clear It Multiplication and a “Beat the Teacher” game.Week 3Lesson 3Week 3 Fractions, Elapsed Time, and MeasurementWe'll understand fractions, compare them, and even make our own fraction kit! We'll also practice reading word problems to figure out elapsed time and interpreting data from graphs. We'll play Splashlearn games to help us with fractions.Week 4Lesson 4Week 4: Geometry and MoreWe'll learn about area, perimeter, 2D and 3D shapes, and their attributes. We'll even go on a scavenger hunt to find different shapes in the world around us!
Through the use of videos, games, and discussion forums, students will engage in interactive and fun learning activities, and feel confident in their third grade math abilities.
I have been a classroom general education teacher for 5 years to heterogeneous groups of students with varying abilities. I have also taught RTI small group lessons on math strategies and concepts throughout an entire grade level. Currently, I am also tutoring students through fifth grade math.
Homework Offered
This class is a FLEX class, meaning work is self paced. Each week students will be asked to share on our classroom discussion board, play an interactive game, and watch 2 videos.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Optional: In Week 4 students will have access to all 16 question types and be able to practice independently. Students are welcomed to be assessed if they like, or not!Grades Offered
