For each chapter of Holes by Louis Sacha, I will ask comprehension questions to ensure understanding. We will not only answer basic comprehension questions, but students will also learn to answer inference questions by citing the text and connecting their answers to their background knowledge. We will also create visual and written responses such as drawings, alternate endings, letters to characters, etc. to allow for engaging, fun opportunities to connect with the text. At the end of the response, students will share with their families to demonstrate both their knowledge of the book and their participation in this class. Students are welcome to catch-up on the book and join the book study at any time. No prior knowledge is required and any students looking to build language can join. If the reading level is too high, listening to the text using an audiobook or family member is also fine.
