The basic foundation of thesis statements. What they are, where they belong in your essay and why they are important to have. I will spend time first teaching and then students will get to practice and write many of their own. They will understand how to use them and a simple structure that can be elaborated/expanded upon as they grow as writers. I will teach with digital resources to first imfrom like slideshow/ppt. Then use interactive slides like peardeck where students will be able to write their own while online with me so that I can be sure they are understanding. I do enjoy the old fashion writing though so if students want to take notes that way is also more than welcome. No prior knowledge needed, just a basic understand of writing an essay of at least 3 paragraphs.

Students will learn a basic formula for thesis statements that can be applied to multiple different forms of writing. Will mainly focus on Informative writing.
