45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This class gets into the physical details on how a lighting designer starts really working. We will learn about some different types of theatrical lighting fixtures, when to use each one, and how to safely and correctly hang and cable them in the venue. I often teach full semester classes in Lighting Design for Theatre but on Outschool I am breaking this up into small separate classes so you can pick and choose what you want to learn. I hope you will join me for some of the more advanced lighting classes after this one, but they do build on each other, so I strongly encourage you to take them in order!
Learning Goals
The difference between a wash and a spot.
What is an ERS?...how does it work? What about a fresnel (and how is that word really pronounced)?
When to use an ERS, par can, fresnel, scoop, and others!
Safety cables, clamps, running/coiling cable...
Other Details
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
