Does your learner wish they could think faster on their feet, create captivating and funny stories, or feel more confident in front of a group? Are they the kind of creative spirit who lights up a room—or one who is grappling with how to express themself? This improv class is their chance to jumpin and get a taste of discovering how creative and capable they truly are!!

Your young performer will be introduced to challenges and games that take them to the edge of thier comfort zone and put them in hot seat... where they will quickly see there is no failure and it's a ton of fun facing the unknown. We'll create scenes in the moment and characters on the spot. We'll show them the joy of collaborating with others, and with this one single class acutally build their confidence to perfrom in front of their class mates immedaitely!! Embracing these kinds of no-preparation challenges shows them they can build skills that go far beyond the class, empowering them to face bigger stages and bolder adventures with self-assurance and creativity. All in an environment built on acceptance and ridiculous fun. In this one single class we will introduce them to all of this. It's a great, easy, low commitment way to see if our ongiing version of the same class is the right fit for you:

As the founder of Boundless Reach Studio I’ve been teaching this class for 5 years now and I’ve seen it a thousand times: That moment when your learner takes a chance, gets a big reaction from the rest of the class, and then they instantly grin, beaming with pride from ear to ear over the thrill of success. It's why our ongoing class is so poular and it's why we love teaching it.

Give this easy one day class a try!
We look forward to seeing your learner in class!

Learning Goals

-Students will learn to focus their energy.
-They will experience the importance of respect and teamwork.
-They will build confidence and gain tools to deal with nervousness or shyness.
-gain a basic understanding of improv and acting
-get a sense of my other ongoing acting and improv classes

Improv isn't fun because you are on stage being silly; improv is fun because when you come up with a new and spontaneous idea in the moment, and it works, you feel the instant thrill of success. You get a laugh from the group and develop new and deeper connection with your scene partner. My goal for every student is to have a chance to experience that moment.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
I make best efforts to avoid politics and religion but sooner or later a student will cast him or herself in the role of a religious leader or famous politician, or set a scene in a church or the Whitehouse etc. This is drama and make-believe and it is important to the process to let their imaginations open up. That being said, while I maintain a safe zone of inclusivity for all faiths and ideologies, hate speech, prejudice or cyber bullying will not be allowed and parents will be notified.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have been a professional actor in film and television for many years. I've travelled to exotic shoot locations, won awards, was a lead on five different television series. But none of that is what makes me a good drama teacher. So what do I think makes me a good drama teacher? Marvel. I never cease to marvel how much the techniques I learned in theatre school as a kid still help me to this day. I never cease to marvel when a child "gets it" and comes up with a new idea and is overcome with joy and pride simultaneously. This is the "magic" you hear us talk about all the time in film and theatre. And I am ever humbled by it. And as our children spend more time in front of the computer, I strive to give them a chance to experience that magic by transform that screen into a social, fun and interactive stage..
