This class is taught in English.
Students will learn scientific information about stress and the two parts of the nervous system that affect stress and feeling calm. They will learn to identify stressful situations and learn tools to manage stress in their day-to-day lives. We will use drawing, journaling, breathing techniques, and easy stretching exercises that students will be able to use at any time to help them stay in their Zen Zone!
I am an experienced classroom teacher with over 12 years in the classroom and I hold a M.ED. in Montessori Integrative Learning. In addition, I hold a Mindfulness Teacher certification from Mindful Schools, a 200-hour yoga teacher certification, and am a certified Wellness Champion authorized to teach a social/emotional curriculum through Breathe for Change. All lessons and techniques taught in my courses are backed by practical experience gained from offering them in my classroom over several years.
Students will have mindfulness or journaling assignment to complete between classes.
Students will need a notebook or personal journal, a pencil, and color pencils or markers for drawing and journaling exercises.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
