In this ongoing course we will meet once a week and read a new weekly writing prompt together. Topics will range from story writing to writing about our own experiences. Students will have roughly 25-30 minutes to think about and finish their writing. During this time I will bounce around and check-in one-on-one with every student to discuss their ideas and any help they may need until time has elapsed. The last 10-15 minutes will be spent reading and sharing our writing with the rest of our...
Students will improve their creative thinking and writing skills. Students will have an opportunity to work on spelling, grammar, and vocabulary.
I have a Bachelor's degree from Iowa State University. I have my TESOL certificate to teach English as a second language.
A ruled composition or spiral notebook will be needed to keep weekly writings and idea drafts in. The cost runs from about $1-$3 for one of these. A pencil, red pen, and eraser will be needed for writing and making corrections.
Students will share and receive feedback from student peers and their teacher after every writing prompt. No formal grade will be given.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Presentation slides will be shown through Canva. The teacher will screenshare through Zoom. An online stop-watch from OnlineStopwatch.com will be used to time the writing and drafting portion of the course. Students may see switching between Zoom, Canva, and OnlineStopwatch on Google Chrome. No other account is needed for these programs.
