US Grade 6 - 8
Great writing requires students to have a solid foundation for writing. This class teaches students how to construct different types of writing from the ground up. Starting with parts of speech and sentence structure, students refresh their knowledge of these basic elements before diving into short responses, narratives and essay writing. The class ends with a research paper and digital presentation, providing students with step-by-step instructions. The lessons include videos, guided notes, Blooket, online games, and practice activities. Throughout the course students will submit writing assignments for teacher feedback. The instructor will send progress reports on Fridays if work has been completed.
Learning Goals
Students will locate and define parts of speech in written sentences
Students will recognize the elements of an essay (introduction paragraph, thesis statement, body paragraphs, and conclusion)
