Class experience
Does your child struggle to differentiate parts of speech? Having a solid understanding of nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs will help your child enhance their ability to express themselves. This class is designed to help your child become a more confident writer as we focus on grammar/parts of speech and how to best write detailed and interesting sentences. Students will develop and strengthen knowledge of grammar (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs). Students will understand the difference between a run-on sentence and sentence fragment. Students will learn ways to enhance and add detail to their sentences.
I have taught 2nd and 3rd grade for over 12 years and worked as elementary school librarian for 4 years and I love to cultivate a love of writing. Having worked in both the classroom and library setting, I know writing is an area which impacts all areas of learning. It is an important skill to develop in learners to help them express and communicate their thoughts and ideas. Teaching basic grammar and sentence structures help lay the groundwork for becoming a good writer as students progress to paragraphs and story writing. I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher and also hold a Master's in Reading which help me always implement best practices when teaching! I love to incorporate stories and share my passion for reading in everything I teach. During this course, I will include some great books related to the grammar topics covered in the class. Additionally, I was chosen as my county's Teacher of the Year and am always working to better enhance the learning experience for all learners! I hope your child will find the class upbeat, engaging, and a way to connect to others to share in the fun of writing!
